My Friend and Her Cancer – Today We Had “The Talk”

When I woke up yesterday morning, it felt like any other day.  The dogs wanted to go outside and I wanted coffee.  This was going to be a short morning time for me.  My sweet friend, her son and I were to head into Raleigh for my friend's 9:30 am appointment with her oncologist.  For almost a year I had been going with her to these appointments.  Some appointments had been at Big Duke, but the majority of the appointments, like this one ...

A Dream of Being Complete

Yesterday was a busy day.  When God is leading your working day, His guidance allows for much to be done in a small amount of time.  I got to the post office before it closed and by 5:13 pm, all letters had been mailed.  Since discovering some new information the first of January, it had been placed in my heart to share the details of how a devastating event was hidden in plan view.  Preparing this for mailing was not a happy thing.  I had ...

From A “Little Girl” To A “Young Lady” Our Bella is Growing Up

Three days shy of her ninth month of age, our Bella is experiencing her first Heat cycle.  It started off a couple of weeks ago when Bella was experimenting with play mating with Rusty.  Needless to say, Rusty, who is a neutered male and about as mellow a dog as one can be, tolerated Bella's amorous mating moves by rolling over on his back and playing "feets" with her.   I picked up four pair of Velcro panties and pads, two hot pink and two ...

Random Acts and God’s Plan For Our Lives

New Year's Eve is a special time for our family.  We always enjoy sending the old year packing and welcoming in a fresh New Year.  Some years are a joy to see go while others have been like old friends we hate to see leave.  Since 2014 had been a so-so year, we simply waved "bye-bye" and shot off some fireworks.  We enjoyed the surrounding neighbors setting off some real beauties and I swear, some "booms" sounded like small pieces of ...

A Toast to Christmas 2014

A lot of us are sitting here tonight, some maybe sipping a glass of wine or others zonking out and getting ready to go to bed.  I am in the "sipping a glass of wine" crowd and enjoying the peace and quiet of Christmas night.  All the pressure of working so that everyone might have a great Christmas is now gone for another year.  I can say that the changes that happened to our family gatherings for this Christmas were a cause for stress.  ...

What Christmas Gives We Cannot Buy

I went out this morning with great intentions.  I was going to surprise someone with a card and pick up a gift for our granddaughter.  Turns out I got the surprise.  Missed out on giving the card to someone and then didn't find what I wanted at Michaels.  I was looking at a bunch of traffic piled on the highway and nobody looked happy in the cars.  Talk about a joy sucking monster starting to grow in my attitude.  All it took was a look in ...

Bella Being Bella in our Pack – Stuff That Makes Things Fun

This morning around 11:00 a.m., Mark and I were getting ready to go to the art show in Raleigh.  With three doggie children, it can get interesting when we get ready to leave.  I had just called Luke and Rusty to come into our bedroom so they could sack out while we were gone for a couple of hours.  It was ONLY the three of us in the bedroom and I am straightening things up when I hear what sounds like "mouse or rat" rustlings noise coming ...

Our Bella is Five Months Old!

Our sweet Bella is now five months old!  She is such a precious part of our family that it is hard to imagine that we were doing okay before she joined us.  I weighed her on Saturday and she topped out at 14.6 pounds.  Still has her cute teddy bear face and we are seeing a blondish tint to her facial fur but still our ginger little red head.  She just had her first official junior puppy trim and it looks like we are now seeing the end of ...

Bella’s New Veterinarian Service

Sometimes we have to consider when to make a change in pet healthcare providers.   In the area in which we live, we are fortunate to have many quality pet care providers.  That's why, today, I am changing pet care providers for Bella.  As Bella's voice, I like to share positive care given to her and compliment the doctors and staff who are giving Bella that care.  That being said, when the care Bella receives is not satisfactory to me, ...

Bella’s Fancy Cast Goes “Funky” !

It started Saturday night with a suggestion from the hubby that he thought Bella's cast smelled "funny".   As us Moms are used to doing, I gave it the sniff test.  Old grass stain, a bit of rotting mowed grass, interwoven with the scent of dirt blended together to make an "old" smell was all I got from my quick shot at doing the sniff test.  Sunday came and went and then along came Monday.  It was Mark's birthday.  Amidst the family ...
